Counselling and Psychotherapy

About Me #01

About Me

I have been working as a psychotherapist for over twenty years, and I have a private practice in north Norwich where I see both couples and individuals.

I am a Senior Member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation, formerly the London Centre for Psychotherapy, where I trained. I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council, one of the principal national psychotherapy training and registering bodies, and I have a further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from the University of East Anglia.

I teach and lecture on psychotherapy-related issues at the University of East Anglia and elsewhere. I hold staff supervision and case discussion groups for doctors, prison officers, counsellors and others working in secure environments such as prisons and psychiatric hospitals, and gave the 2009 Spring Lecture for the Sutherland Trust in Edinburgh on my work in a prison therapeutic community.

I also supervise psychotherapists and counsellors, and I am a training supervisor and therapist for a number of training organisations as well as supervising trainee psychiatrists (in relation to the psychotherapy components of their training) for the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

Before becoming a psychotherapist I qualified and practised for some years as a Solicitor, having graduated from Cambridge with a degree in English and Law.

I have written a number of clinical papers and books including on the couples relationship, The Good Marriage (1990), and on mid-life crisis, Regeneration (2002).
